Scheduled to open May 2006, the Laurel District in Oakland, California, welcomes its first upscale, down-home, European influenced take-out deli/bakery/café. Conveniently located east of the downtown/Lake Merritt region and south of the upscale Montclair Village neighborhood, Thyme Café provides onsite parking and is easily accessible to freeways and local thoroughfares.
This 1689 square foot café will offer the best in fresh, healthy, home-cooked selections. Available for take-out or sit down, the café will feature meals that are seasoned with the spices and flavors of Southern, Caribbean, South America and European cooking. Thyme Café will also offer catering services to individuals, organizations and businesses and provide healthy box lunches to schools. Thyme Café will offer such menu items as chicken, crab, salmon, tofu, eggplant, turkey and dressing, meatloaf, Cuban black beans, red beans and rice, corn beef and cabbage, Caribbean peas and rice, and a selection of vegetarian dishes and pastas. Thyme Café’s seafood gumbo is available upon request. Tasty Southern bakery items, such as lavender shortbread cookies, pound cakes and fruit cobblers (including those with a reduced-fat option) will be available. As a special treat, tea service will be provided in the afternoon. Advance orders and take-out will be provided.
