ABOUT CHEF SISTER MARIE

As the owner of Thyme Café, Chef Sister Marie brings over 40 years of professional experience in the food industry to Thyme Café. While her culinary history has been varied and unconventional, she continues to delight her customers by preparing food that not only tastes good, but feels good too!

Chef Sister Marie uses only the finest ingredients and spices to enhance the flavor of her dishes. Recognizing the need for healthy, good food, she prepares entrees for all settings, from government agencies to schools.

Her background includes teaching, cooking, food preparation, meal planning, nutrition, principles of table service, entertaining, and food service management training to diverse audiences. Her academic preparation for her teaching activities includes a B.A. degree from Marylhurst College in Portland, Oregon and a M.A. degree from San Francisco State University, both in Home Economics. Chef Sister Marie is also a California State-credentialed educator.

While Chef Sister Marie’s background and experience is widely known throughout the Bay Area, it is not experience alone that has propelled her to open Thyme Café. “Cooking is my passion. When I am in my kitchen, I am my most creative self. I contend that healthy food can be good for you and taste good. I want to create a place where people can come and feel at home.”
